Spring cleaning, you may think about all the things you don’t need, things you don’t want, things that may even be hazardous, things you’ve outgrown. You collect everything, pile it up, pack it out and take it away. But what about your mind? Your brain.

Can you spring clean your brain? Is it necessary? Is it worth it?

Yes. Yes. And Yes!

Mental Clutter

What is mental clutter? Is there something in your brain preventing you from moving forward? Have you allowed negative thinking to come into your head over the last year? Has it creeped in on you slowly. Perhaps so slowly that you don't even notice those little dusty parts or cobwebs or parts in your brain where you've been piling things?

Storing negative thinking in your brain can erode away on your positivity. Think, how positive am I? Maybe you have some negative thoughts that are building like clutter before a good spring cleaning. One negative thought on top of another negative thought on top of another negative thought, and they grow until all of a sudden there is this big pile that is affecting your life. If a mind gets too cluttered, you may have difficulty accessing logical thinking and problem solving ability. If your brain is overwhelmed, you will be thinking more with the emotional brain and not the logical brain. When the brain is overwhelmed you are not able to access and do problem solving as efficiently as you used to.

There is a plan of action to be able to spring clean your brain. In part 2 of 3 learn how to assess, identify and declutter. Then in part 3 of 3 get some amazing tips to be able to get rid of that clutter for good!
